Moschino

Moschino is an Italian brand founded in 1983 by fashion designer Franco Moschino. In January 2024, Adrian Appiolaza was appointed as the new creative director of Moschino. An avid archivist of works by Margiela, Kawakubo, and Gaultier—a testament to his keen eye—Appiolaza reinterpreted Franco Moschino’s surreal and camp-infused archives, drawing upon his own background as a collector while ensuring that the garments remained not only artistic statements but also wearable pieces. His collection featured dresses, suits, and coats, incorporating polka dots, turbans, *trompe-l'oeil* effects, pearl chains, and a touch of British punk—a nod, incidentally, to the renowned 80s and 90s stylist Judy Blame. Adrian stepped down from his role as creative director in June 2026. Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, the founders of the brand Sunnei, were subsequently appointed as the new co-creative directors of the label.
